Just a few days ago i would have given 5 stars from past rv and auto loans. Lowest rates we could find and friendly service at the Alexandria, LA office. However, I just learned that the current RV loan we have, @ $65,000 balance, CAN NOT be paid off early to save interest. No matter how much you pay more than the monthly note, it doesn't reduce the principal. The payoff is the total of remaining notes. That should be criminal. Nothing was ever said about that when signing. I regret the referrals I've given friends and will now warn them away from Barksdale FCU.

A bit of history before I relay what I faced today.
Never, NEVER, have I had ANY IRA transaction completed satisfactorily. Two examples are first, I had to educate the person "serving" me that there is a difference between a "rollover" and a "transfer." Secondly, when we made our last IRA RMD we moved some of it into the Christmas Club. Well, in all their money movement, they gave us $5,000 more money in our savings account than we were due. Because of their inferior history, I did nothing but watch it knowing it wasn't ours. It took all of nine (9) months for them to figure it out. Which brings us to today.
My husband and I each have joint accounts. His I am his designated beneficiary on all accounts listed in his name first. He died back in January. I have been doing my research and determined the manner in which I want the funds transferred over to me. Today, I go into both Bossier Offices and present a Certified Copy of his Death Certificate, My identification, two sheets of paper, i.e. one containing all of his separate IRA accounts, and one with my account information. I am told they will take my information and sent it off to the IRA person to process.
Friends, I want to be eye to eye with the person who is moving the $$$$ he and I worked some 50 yers to save. In the past they have screwed things up. Now is not the time to mess with a little old lady who is battling OPM, Social Security, to name a couple. All of these agencies have timely and proper paperwork, but simply are not taking care of business. Even my Congressman's office thinks an email saying they know about it is enough. For them, my next letter goes to the White House.

When financing a car, the dealership used Barksdale and I was told how I could build a financial relationship with them. I recently applied for a 3000.00 personal loan. A member services rep called asked if I had a cosigner and I wanted to ask if she was kidding. No one has asked me that for over 25 years. My credit score is good and I have a 25,000 auto loan that is paid on time every month with them. Of course, the loan was declined after two days yet my credit was hit within an hour. I am currently looking for a reputable bank to move my auto loan. Barksdales customer service even in drive though is pathetic. The member services rep that called me about the loan sounded like it was a bother.

Louisiana from Texas where I banked with Wells Fargo and I loved them however they do not have any banks in Louisiana. After asking around I opened an account with Barksdale and what a mistake it turned out to be. Things went pretty good for a few years and I don’t know if they changed management or restructured their business model as a bank but they went from so so to what I’d describe as predatory seemingly over night. I’m talking holding out transactions and checks for a week or more and then poof, as if by magic, they’d drop in the account mere hours before the next direct deposit would hit. And they sit on your money. My job pays me twice a month and Barksdale would hold the funds for days before releasing them while they also held out transactions until there were enough to overdraw the account and then they’d release the direct deposit minus the $24 fee for each overdraft. They even had the audacity to list a few overdraft charges as “over draft fee direct deposit funds held”. I called up there once accusing them of manipulating my account and transactions to create overdrafts and thus fee charges and the guy “assured” me they don’t do that and offered to refund half of the over drafts they’d generated manipulating the account. I had a truck loan with them as well which was set up to be paid automatically out of my direct deposit. Over 4 years of paying the note every month and a few months shy of paying the truck off I went to use my card one day and it declined. I tried to go by Barksdale and use the atm and it declined. I had just been paid so I figured maybe my card number had been compromised and they shut it down to prevent theft. When I called the next day they informed me my account was locked due to non payment on my truck loan. Non payment I asked? I said I just saw on the app where the note had been paid that month and the girl says “this stems from a missed payment last November”... this was September. I asked how I’d missed a payment when it’s auto drafted and why they didn’t bother to say anything the last 9 months and then just lock my account so I couldn’t access my own money? They said well you’ll have to pay the missed payment before your account can be unlocked... 9-10 months later and 4 months away from paying the vehicle off. They are the worst bank I’ve ever dealt with hands down and I’d recommend giving your money to a crackhead or degenerate gambler before placing it in the care of their hands. Yes 1 star is 1 too many!
