I have been a member for 15 years. This bank and the customer service has just crashed. There is no communication at all. Trying to get someone on the phone or to answer any questions is a nightmare. They never return your phone calls. The vernon branch is non-existent, so to drive into East Hartford is a major problem for me. It's time to find a new credit union. Oh and the ATM machine is always broken or down. It gave me a 10 dollar bill instead of a 100. Had to wait on that isssue as well to be resolved. There needs to be more human interaction when dealing with individuals personal and professional livelyhoods.

I’ve been a member of this bank since 2016. may be 2015, the reason I stopped using this bank as much is because their communication within the inside department is horrible. But I figured maybe it’s changed since it’s been about a year I’ve used them..
On Thursday I go to the member service atm and speak to a teller. I tell her I’m depositing $1,000 in cash, all 20’s. As I go to deposit my money it gets stuck and the teller only hands me back 22 $20 bills. She tells me I “broke” the machine and that I will have to wait until tomorrow,(which would of been Friday) to get my money back. Friday comes and nobody contacts me. I get an email sent saying they are going to give me $40 credit until they can figured out how much it was. Mind you $40 credit for about $600 stuck in their machine. It’s an inconvenience because I have bills and stuff that needs to get paid, I don’t put my money in a bank to play with it. Anyways fast forwarding to Monday with a total of about 9 calls to the East Hartford Branch and every single time I got put through to voicemail. I called again and spoke to the assistant upfront and told her that at this point I felt like they were stealing because no one wanted to contact me or update me about the whereabouts of my money. All I wanted was to know what was going on. The upfront receptionist told me that it wasn’t her problem and I was basically preaching to the wrong crowd, so I hung up because she was useless. As soon as I hung up that call, the manager of the branch emailed me to not call and threaten her employees and then claimed that she stated “procedures” that she had to go through to get my money back and also called me a liar. When truthfully nobody told me anything regarding my money, and that’s why I’m upset. They told me it would be fixed “tomorrow” and “tomorrow” has turned into 5 days. Their lack of communication is unacceptable and the manager can’t even revise a typo in her email before she sends it out.

FNEFCU was a diamond in the rough. For decades I wondered how such a tiny institution could be highly competitive on a national level. I miss those days, and sadly have moved on to better rates and service at LMCU. I didn't want to leave Finex, but they are no longer competitive locally, let alone nationally, and the service is... well, the email threads I could provide would demonstrate that they are grossly incompetent and highly aloof from the management level down. That's being polite.
